Introduction
Based on the award winning Carcassonne, this is a fully self contained new game. It is a simple tile laying game that lets you build forests and rivers and hunt for animals in the meadows.
Rules Overview
Carcassonne: Hunters and Gatherers is as easy to play as the original Carcassone, with some rules simplified and a few new rules thrown in. Each turn you draw a tile and add it to the play area. You may then, if you wish, place one of your pieces on that tile to control an empty forest, river or meadow. When a structure completes, points are awarded and the player with the most points when the tiles run out is the winner.
Strategy
To share an opponents area you must claim your own area and somehow build the two together. If you complete a forest (yours or an opponents) with at least one gold nugget in it, you may immediately play an extra tile from a pile of special bonus tiles, many of which will help you gain control of an area.
Conclusion
Every bit as good as the original Carcassonne and in some ways superior, Carcassonne: Hunters and Gatherers is a quick yet absorbing game that delights two players as easily as it does five.
